Three of Us is a beautiful cinematographic feast that carefully maneuvers around the complexity of the human heart. The direction of Avinash Arun, performance brings this 2023 Hindi-language drama film to stand out in contemporary cinema. Shaifali Shah’s representation of Shailaja who fights against early-onset of dementia is nothing less than fascinating. The film transports us into a rhythmic journey when Shailaja along with her spouse (Swanand Kirkire) returns back to her childhood years in the beautiful Konkan region.
The visuals are a feast for the eyes, showcasing the stunning landscape that provides the setting for Shailaja’s quaint journey down memory lane. Jaideep Ahlawat, as Shailaja’s childhood friend Pradeep has a strong performance that helps add a layer of depth to the story. Along with Arun, Barve and Chatterjee, the screenplay is woven into an intimate and universally relatable story. The dialogues that are spoken beautifully with a lot of restraint make a deep impact.
Alokananda Dasgupta’s music embodies the emotions felt, synchronizing with the atmosphere of the movie in every scene. The narrative takes on a poetic form, providing with a melancholic contemplation of love, death, and the constant change. The film “Three of Us” is not just a movie but a sensory journey that lingers in your mind even after the movie ends. It sensitively discusses themes of absolution and retribution, so only the real movie fans who want to have an important and warm cinematographical trip through the labyrinth of human relationships should watch it.
