The festive dressing is an art. It’s the perfect opportunity to dress up, show off your style and feel your best. Every Indian festive event is all about joy, celebration and happiness, and what better way to express that than through your attire? Whether it’s a holiday party, a family gathering, or a wedding, dressing for the occasion can be exciting and daunting all at once.
When it comes to festival dressing, few garments can match the elegance and versatility of the Indian sari. This stunning garment has been a part of Indian culture for centuries and has evolved over time to become a symbol of grace, beauty, and tradition.
The versatility of the sari makes it a perfect fit for any festival or occasion. And it is my all-time favourite festival dressing style. One of the biggest advantages of the Indian sari is its ability to suit any body type. With the right draping technique, the sari can enhance your natural curves and flatter your figure.
Whether you’re tall, short, slim, or curvy, there is a sari style that will work for you. This is one of the major reasons why I love saree as it has always worked for me in my various (size) avatars which I had donned/achieved as I was moving ahead from one decade to the next.
For every happy occasion, there has always been a saree for me. I prefer wearing silk sarees on festivals falling in winter. And cotton silk, chanderi, banarasi cotton, jute, and south cotton silk sarees in the summer festivals.
Draping a saree adds spring to my feet. I can hear the music which films play when one is in love. I can really hear that as I am getting ready by draping sarees on festivals. 🙂 Accessories are a major part of the festival dressing. I am not the kind who follows any fashion trends. Being a follower was never my style. I wear what my heart says.
The sari is a great choice for festival dressing because it allows me to experiment with different colours, prints and styles. From vibrant hues like red, orange, and pink to more subtle shades like pastels and earthy tones, there is a sari for every occasion. The intricate designs and embellishments on the sari also add a touch of glamour and elegance to the looks.
Another advantage of the sari is its versatility. You can wear a sari for a formal event like a wedding or a more casual event like a family gathering. The sari can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, making it a perfect fit for any festival or celebration.
In addition to its beauty and versatility, the Indian sari also has cultural significance. It is a symbol of Indian heritage and tradition, and wearing a sari is a way to connect with your roots and celebrate your culture. It is an integral part of Indian culture and represents the beauty and diversity of our country. By wearing a sari, we are not only celebrating our culture and heritage but also passing it down to future generations.
The Indian sari fits the bill of festival dressing perfectly. Its elegance, versatility, and cultural significance make it a must-have for any wardrobe. There’s something undeniably special about the sari. For those of us who have fallen in love with the sari, it’s hard to imagine ever not wearing one.
The sari can make us feel incredibly beautiful and confident. There’s something about the way a sari drapes around the body that accentuates our natural curves and flatters our figure.
Finally, the sari is a garment that can be passed down from generation to generation. Many of us have inherited saris from our mothers or grandmothers, and wearing them feels like a way to honour and connect with our ancestors. The sari is a garment that can be worn for a lifetime, and each time we wear it, we create new memories and experiences.
In conclusion, my love for the sari is permanent because it is a garment that represents so much more than just clothing. It is a symbol of culture, tradition, beauty, and confidence. For those of us who have fallen in love with the sari, it will always hold a special place in our hearts.
There’s no denying that the sari is a standout garment. When you walk into a room wearing a sari, heads turn and people take notice. There are several reasons why the sari stands out in the crowd and continues to be a favourite among women of all ages.
The sari is a garment that exudes elegance and grace. The way it drapes around the body is both flattering and feminine, making the wearer look and feel beautiful. The intricate designs and embellishments on the sari also add a touch of glamour and sophistication to the overall look.
The sari is a versatile garment that can be worn in different styles and with a variety of accessories. This means that no two saris are ever the same. Each time you wear a sari, you have the opportunity to create a unique look that sets you apart from the crowd.
In conclusion, the sari stands out in the crowd because of its elegance, uniqueness, versatility, and cultural significance. It’s a garment that commands attention and exudes confidence, making it a favourite among women around the world. So, the next time you want to make a statement and stand out from the crowd, consider reaching for a beautiful sari – you won’t regret it.
Let me pass on some tips to help you navigate the world of festive dressing and make a statement wherever you go.
Passing on tips is a favourite pass time of seniors. 😛
Dress according to the occasion:
The first step in festive dressing is to know the dress code. Different occasions call for different attire. All Indian festivals call for the bright-coloured dressing except Holi. On Holi, most people wear dresses, which they can discard after playing Holi. It has become fashionable now to buy new white-coloured dresses to play Holi. I have stopped playing with colours on Holi but I would still promote wearing an old dress for the sake of sustainability in fashion. For Rakshabandhan, Navratri, Diwali, karwachauth and other festivals wear anything traditional and of bright colours. It may be a lehenga-choli, salwar suit, sari etc. Usually, yellow, red, pink, and green tones bring in festive looks. Sometimes lighter colours like white, cream and beige also look good. It’s important to know what’s expected so that you can dress appropriately and feel comfortable. Besides looking and feeling dressy, comfort is also another parameter, which I take into consideration while selecting any outfit.
Choose the right colours: The festive dressing is all about bright colours, bold prints, and sparkly embellishments. Reds, greens, golds, and silvers are popular choices for festivals. Actually, in earlier times, only bright traditional colours like red, yellow, green or blue were preferred choices in any celebrations but now softer tones are also equally popular.
If you’re unsure which colour to choose, black or white is always a classic choice that never goes out of style.
Accessorize wisely: Accessories may add extra points to an outfit. A statement necklace, a pair of statement earrings, or a bold bracelet can take your outfit to the next level. For festive events, you can never go wrong with a pair of sparkly heels or a clutch with embellishments. Just remember to keep it balanced – if your outfit is already quite bold, go for understated accessories.
Keep it comfortable: Festive events can last for hours, so it’s important to dress comfortably. You don’t want to be fussing with your outfit or shoes all night long. Opt for comfortable fabrics like cotton or silk, and avoid anything too tight or restrictive. If you’re wearing heels, make sure you can walk in them for an extended period of time.
Be yourself: The most important thing when it comes to festive dressing is to be yourself. Choose an outfit that you feel comfortable in and that reflects your personal style. Festive events are about celebrating with your loved ones, so don’t stress too much about your outfit. As long as you feel good in it, you’ll look great.
In conclusion, festive dressing is all about having fun and expressing your personal style. Remember to dress appropriately for the event, choose the right colours, accessorize wisely, stay comfortable, and most importantly, be yourself. Happy dressing!
